How SafeAssign.net handles your data, what we collect, and your rights.

Last updated: July 20, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how SafeAssign.net (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and handles information when you visit or use our website. By using SafeAssign.net, you agree to the practices described in this policy. This policy applies to all visitors and users of safeassign.net.

1. Information We Collect

Information collected automatically

When you visit SafeAssign.net, our servers and third-party analytics providers may automatically collect standard technical data, including:

  • IP address (anonymized where applicable under GDPR)
  • Browser type and version
  • Referring URL (the page you came from)
  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Device type and operating system

This information is used solely for site performance monitoring, traffic analysis, and security purposes. It is not used to identify individual users.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect or store any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, or any account credentials
  • The paper or text you submit through the plagiarism checker
  • Your similarity score or Originality Report results
  • Payment information of any kind

Text submitted to the checker is processed entirely in memory and discarded immediately after your report is generated. It is never written to disk, logged, or transmitted to any third party.

Cookies

SafeAssign.net uses a limited set of cookies necessary for the site to function. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. See Section 6 for full cookie details.

2. How We Use Your Information

The technical data we collect automatically is used only for the following purposes:

  • Delivering and displaying the website to your browser
  • Analysing aggregate traffic patterns to improve site performance
  • Detecting and preventing security threats, spam, or abuse
  • Understanding which pages and features are most used

We do not use your information to send marketing emails, build user profiles, serve targeted advertising, or sell data to third parties. The text you paste into the checker is processed solely to generate your similarity report and is not used for any other purpose.

3. Data Retention

We retain different types of data for different periods:

  • Checker text: Not retained at all. Processed in memory, discarded immediately after report generation.
  • Server access logs: Retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes, then automatically deleted.
  • Analytics data: Retained in aggregated, anonymised form for up to 13 months, consistent with standard analytics provider terms.
  • Functional cookies: Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies used for site preferences expire within 12 months.

4. Third-Party Services

SafeAssign.net uses a small number of third-party services that may process limited technical data:

  • Google Fonts: Used to load the Inter typeface. When your browser requests the font files, Google’s servers receive your IP address and browser information. See Google’s Privacy Policy for details.
  • Hosting and caching infrastructure: Our hosting provider processes server requests in the normal course of delivering web pages. No paper content is transmitted to or stored by our hosting provider.
  • Affiliate redirect (/full-report/): When you click a “Get Full Report” button, you are redirected to a third-party partner site. That site operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review before submitting any information there. We are not responsible for the data practices of third-party sites.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes.

5. Your Rights (GDPR and CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Under GDPR (European Economic Area and UK residents)

  • Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure: You may request that we delete personal data we hold about you, subject to any legal retention obligations.
  • Right to object: You may object to our processing of your data where we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis.
  • Right to data portability: You may request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format where technically feasible.
  • Right to lodge a complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Under CCPA (California residents)

  • You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used.
  • You have the right to request deletion of your personal information.
  • You have the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
  • You have the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. Because we collect minimal personal data and do not retain checker text, many requests can be fulfilled immediately.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. SafeAssign.net uses the following types of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: Required for the website to function. These include session management cookies set by WordPress. They cannot be disabled without preventing the site from working correctly.
  • Analytics cookies (if enabled): Used to collect anonymised data about how visitors use the site — pages visited, time on page, and referral source. No personal identifiers are collected.

We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or cross-site behavioural tracking cookies.

To manage or disable cookies, adjust your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their privacy or settings menu. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may affect site functionality.

7. Children’s Privacy

SafeAssign.net is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information through our site, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of SafeAssign.net after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
